In September 2021, Nyke Slawik moves into the German federal parliament full of ambition and thirst for action. Together with Tessa Ganserer, the 29-year-old is one of the first transgenders in a German parliament. With her election Nyke has become a symbol of hope for political change and representation in parliament – especially for many young and queer people. Nyke wants to change the system, to enforce the self-determination law, to carry climate protection forward and to reform the public transportation system. But the war of aggression in Ukraine and its consequences on Germany quickly upset her big objectives: energy crisis, inflation, covid aftereffects and the coal mining area Lützerath make the situation even worse – the approval of Germany’s “Ampel” coalition, consisting of Nyke’s Green Party, the Social Democratic Party and the Liberal Party, drops to a low point.
What happens to the hope of a representative of the young generation in a time full of multiple crisis which no legislative period has ever experienced? How can Nyke maintain her willingness to enforce political change if the Russian aggression war in Ukraine spreads desperation, the consequences of climate change become more and more drastic and she always has to prove and defend herself against hostilities?
A film broadcasted in November 2023 on national TV about humanity in politics and the bravery, despite all crises and moments of failure, not to give up the hope for change.
In spring 2021, not many people would have assumed that Nyke Slawik’s (Green Party) candidacy for the German Bundestag could be successful. On September 26, newspapers eventually headlined: "Nyke Slawik and Tessa Ganserer – the First Transwomen in the German Bundestag". But behind Nyke’s story is more than just this headline.
The documentary follows Nyke in the months of her candidacy until her successful election. Meanwhile, Audrey Dilangu (Social Democratic Party) from the small town Dinslaken in North Rhine-Westphalia and Lilli Fischer (Christian Democratic Union) from Erfurt, Thüringen, fight their own battles in German local politics. All three protagonists have one thing in common: they get involved despite of hateful messages, despite of sexism and racism in a so far male-dominated political world. Nyke became a symbol of hope for the international L.G.T.B.I.Q. + movement. Lilli connects being young and being conservative. Audrey, as a black politician from a family who had to flee their home country, insists of new perspectives and diversity in German democracy.
GERMANY REPRESENT – YOUNG, FEMALE, POLITICAL shows the challenges our protagonists have to face in their political engagement. The documentary takes the worries and thoughts of the young German generation seriously, gives them a platform and conveys why so many young people are protesting for their political causes.

Violence starts with language. Hate speech in any form effects people. Language and how we use it shapes our society and our living together. If words that originally included racist or insulting traits suddenly become suitable for our everyday's life through their natural use on the net, it changes our perception and makes us more accustomed to them through constant reading and writing.
Language creates realities. This magazine with six articles highlights the effects that Hate Speech has in real life. From those affected, to the possible perspectives of the perpetrators, to the people who take action against it.
